That question can be very hard to answer. It is like asking how much does a house cost. Our decks can range from $22/ft2 and up. Our average deck, installed, costs approximately $35/ft2 to $50/ft2.
What are low-maintenance decks?
We are currently installing multiple low-maintenance decks every week. We have many different products to choose from, including composite material, vinyl, fiberglass and even steel.
Why choose a cedar deck over pressure treated lumber?
We prefer using natural outdoor cedar to chemically treated wood. We also find a lot less slivers and a deck that looks better now and in years to come.
Should I stain a cedar deck?
That's an opinion call, but if you do, you will have to do it again every year. We recommend letting it grey naturally and washing it 2 or 3 times/year with Sunlight dishwashing soap to keep it clean and pollution-free.
What is the best time to buy a deck?
Like every seasonal business, buy in the off season. In the deck business, that is in the fall. Usually September to November. You might get it at the current year's prices which could mean a 10% savings compared to the spring of the following year.

How far will you travel to design or build?
We can design any project from our head office. With the use of digital cameras, fax machines and e-mail, we can design a project anywhere. As far a how far we will travel to build a project, we say anywhere in the world. We already ship material North America wide and can easily factor a couple of plane tickets into an average project and still remain very competitive.

Do you charge for your designs?
The answer to this question is most of the time, no. If you are getting a deck built and are in one of our areas we will give you a full design and price. If you are building it yourself we have a consulting service.
What is the best low-maintenance product?
It depends on what features and benefits you want. We search the world for the best products available and have eliminated the choices from over 50 to about 14 good ones. We do have preferences of various products for certain uses.
How long have low-maintenance decks been around?
We still sell B.C. cedar as maintenance-free if you let it grey, so since time began low maintenance has been around. The first man made decking is Trex, which was started in 1992. It is made of recycled wood and plastic and called a wood composite.
